Happy Dads Day and More...

Laken’s Hero absolutely consists of his Daddy . By far Laken’s most favorite person in the world! You meet a boy…you fall in love “head over heels in love” then he asks you to marry him…. He becomes your husband…again head over heels in love…with a twist…just a little bit sweeter…Then that man becomes a dad….your heart melts, your head over heels, heart bursting and a whole new love for “that boy” you first fell in love with blossoms into to something only those who have experienced can understand….it’s just not possible to be able too put it into words…
Mark is an Amazing Dad and I feel so blessed to have him as a husband. Mark worked this weekend but we celebrated early with cards and gifts. So To all the Dads out there Happy Fathers Day!!! xoxo

About my birthday…there have been few, but just this year I’m turning Two!

Where has the time gone?? Laken will be turning two in eight weeks and like last year we did a group birthday for the kids like we did last year with the Baby steps group, but a bit lower key this year…which was just as nice!
It honestly feels like just the other day we were bring our brand new baby boy home and now he’s two….A huge side of me wants to sob and stop time, and the other part of me is just so excited to see what is around the next bend as the rides this far has been beyond Mark and Is wildest dreams.
With all of us in our Mommy’s group back to work, raising our kids, being wives, some are moving into bigger homes, trying to fit life in general and a few are expecting number two right away here…We’ve been finding it hard just to get together, so this year we decided if the weather would cooperate we would head to the park for a picnic and let the kids just play, and that they did!! It was so nice to get to together, visit and just enjoy the kids!

They Say a child Laughs 150 times a Day and an Adult only 6~ thus the reason we should never grow up....

June Is Here, June Is here!!
Are you all freaking out like I am?? Ha! June is definitely here and then again its almost over and I have a trip to pack for…win the millions, ( I wish), Two weddings and birthday Party’s in-between plus work has to fit somewhere in there and life!

First panic is,,,, Canada post is striking…..no big deal if your not waiting for your passport, kinda a big deal if you are…but they thought about this and are sending it by purolator…Yay! Faster….if your passport was printed off…like Laken and my Aunts are....…so here I wait praying to some higher power it gets here in time!!

Second panic besides there is not enough hours in the day, the Volcano…that feels the need to erupt an cancel flights…. So far only in South America…..but still!

And third…..I’m fly with a 23 month old…for eight hours…on a plane…so here is also to praying, those on our plane love us as much as when we get on, as they do when we get off…..

All of the above though are just minor details and Life is Amazing right now, we are so blessed to be able to have these little panics! Lol All in all though regardless of how everything in-between goes the important thing is that we are present for every moment..Yep! Even the one where Laken is Screaming at the top of his lungs wanting to get off the plane and I’m crying with him…lol( a reoccurring dream..) Because we’ll laugh at it at some point….hopefully..right???

I feel like the kid on the Disney commercial (“I’m too excited to sleep!”) I cannot wait to see all my family as the last time I was over was when I took my in Mum July of 2007 just before she died and miss them so much. This trip is also bitter sweet…I so wish my mom could be here as she would have loved nothing more then for her grandchild to see Scotland. Meet everyone and become apart of her “slice” of the world… It’s also bitter sweet because it’s more then likely the Last time I’ll get to see my Great Aunt Anna, the closest thing I’ve ever had to a grandma and the last tie to my Grandmother whom I never met. As bitter sweet though I’m so looking forward to it, I have the opportunity to create so everlasting memories share pieces of my Mum with Laken and cherish all the time I get with my Aunt.

Besides preparing for the trip Mark, Laken and I are loving every minute of Marks Job ( it’s now been over a year since he quit McNally’s) We’ve spent so much time playing in the back yard, going to the park and just hanging out it’s wonderful and I couldn’t ask for anything more! Mark is still loving his job and the opportunity’s seem to be endless at this point! I’ve been busy with all of the above, plus I’m apart of a Capital Health project, planning the new wings for our hospital which have also kept me busy with meetings! Laken Amazes us daily and his vocabulary is growing exponentially every day! Here are some sneak peaks from what we’ve been up to these last few weeks! Happy June Everyone!! xox

Nurses Week May~ 6th-12th

Happy Nurses Week~ In May!!

When I think about all the patients and their loved ones that I have worked with over the years, I know most of them don't remember me nor I them. But I do know that I gave a little piece of myself to each of them and they to me and those threads make up the beautiful tapestry in my mind that is my career in nursing. ~Donna Wilk Cardillo

In kindergarten when asked~ “What do you want to be when you grow up?” My answer has always been “a nurse” I think part of it is because it’s in my blood…My Great Grandma was a Nurse, Both Grandparents and my Mum where all in the nursing field.

I truly love my job, it keeps everything in perspective, reminds me constantly of how important life in and how amazing the human mind body and spirit is. In my career I’ve seen people at there worst, there best, there happiest and there lowest. I’ve held the hands of those who are taking their last breaths and those who are welcoming new life into the world….I’ve shared tears with a lot of my patients those who have been diagnosed with incurable illnesses and those who have been given a clean bill of health.

I knew from an early age I would love nursing, but never have thought I would love something this much. Some days are really hard, busy and mentally draining but I wouldn’t trade anything. I think the quote above nails it..I wont remember all those I meet in my career and nor will they remember me..but I know I’ve given a little piece of myself to them and honestly hope I’ve made a difference in their lives.

I am also blessed in my career to work with some Amazing women and men making the job all that sweeter! Happy Nurses week to all the nurses out there!
