~ Dreams Do come True Ours came wrapped in Baby Blue…

It’s been a big month at our house….Laken started Pre Play School, no longer is using a bottle at night, is now sleeping in a big boy bed and is still using the potty!

I was told when we brought Laken home from the hospital that you’ll never stop worrying about him…as with every stage there is a new worry….Boy where they right! I find myself worrying alot lately about Laken not being socialized enough because he isn’t in a day home or day care….and Mark and I both feel interaction with other children is important..... So we signed up for a pre play school class. Laken, I think enjoys it.... One of the little girls for our baby group is in it as well so there is a familiar face and lots of toys! It’s so funny to watch Laken…he is sooo observant and reserved. He walks around with his hands clasped behind his back and watches all the other children play and interact before he decides what he’d like to do. He’s very thoughtful and so good at sharing it just blows my mind, and makes me so proud he’s mine!

Last week I awoke to a horrible scream, I ran into the nursery to find Laken teetering on the rail of his crib…….he’s been climbing everything lately, even going as far as to push/move/carry objects to assist him in climbing…so I figured a big boy bed wasn’t far away but I never thought it would be this soon! Never the less when Mark got home we changed the crib into a bed and haven’t looked back since! Laken was so excited that he could get in and out of the bed that we had no trouble transitioning him, but…..the novelty of being able to get out of bed and open the door took a few days to wear off….

It’s just so hard to grasp how quickly Laken is growing along with how independent and assertive he is becoming.. So goodbye to January and hello to a super busy February! xox

A New Year a New Story to Write~

I always find the New year a bit frightening, intimidating, exciting and very welcomed All at the same time…. January is Always a time of reflection for our family... where we’ve been, where we are and where we’re going… Full of resolutions, revelations and renewed desires. I use to use my New Years resolutions for the predictable “I’ll loose some weight…get in shape….get toned…” realising early on that I was setting a goal with out a plan or change in regards to “how” I was going to get there…so I gave up on what I felt were superficial “resolutions” and decided to start ones which pertained to bettering, my family’s life as well as my own….Improving as a person, family and unit and truly getting everything possible out of life…

With that last years “resolution” was to fully remove those I could out of my and my families life who where only adding negativity and to put those who couldn’t be fully removed at arms length… With an understanding that, you cannot control anyone’s choices, paths, desires or decisions but your own….and with that, it leaves one in charge of quite a bit… Mark and I decided that we as a family, we would only focus on those in our lives who brought positives and that life was to short for those who didn’t really want to be apart of ours, but felt obligated too…. those who focused on negatives…… those who only came around when they needed something and those who’s choices/decisions didn’t fit with ours or were not acceptable in our home….. It’s been a good change for our family and shifting the focus on to those who bring so much joy to our lives instead of trying to please those don’t has been wonderful for our family, but of course will be a life long resolution.

This year our resolution is to make even more of an effort to tell those we love, that “we love them”, to truly and sincerely take time to thank those who are apart of our lives and to let those who we appreciate know how much we appreciate them. With life being so fast paced I feel we’ve forgotten to take five minutes to say “thanks”….Whether it’s in person, a note or letter, or a token…We also resolve to make this year about the TIME spent with family & friends and not the material items, wants and desires….

So here is to 2011 and all that it will bring, Wishing you all as always Peace, Love, Laughter, Happiness and of course health!

Here are a few last pictures of 2010 and the Fabulous people we shared it with!
