Shoe Laces Untied~

Shoe Laces Untied~ Catchy don’t you think….haha.. I wish there was some brilliant metaphor as to why I chose this as our blogs name but really it’s not that deep….. I chose the name for a few reasons one being that I love the song “today” by Josh Raiden (you should check it out) and it starts out ~shoelaces untied ,you can dry your eyes, perfect shadows alive, behind us, this is the day I make you mine~ now the meaning of the song has no relation to our title. I just like what shoelaces united suggests….when I think of them ……and thought it would be a perfect title for our family’s little blog…..When I picture a pair of shoes with laces untied, I think of ones childhood…. the care free summer days, fresh cut grass, mud puddles and the lack of responsibility and of course getting in trouble for not untying my shoes…slipping them on and off and being scolded for breaking the backs…..It also brings to mind how in kindergarten I was one of the last to figure out how to tie my shoe’s and how I so wanted the “prize”…. (I can’t even remember what the prize was) I do remember the sense of defeat when the darn rabbit wouldn’t pop out of the hole properly, and the excitement along with the pride I felt when the stupid rabbit finally cooperated…it was monumental at the age of five!

It’s how we want Laken’s childhood to be, carefree with the only worry being how to get the rabbit to cooperate…..not full of responsibility and worry. Mark and I talk all the time about how we’re going to do things, how Laken is going to be raised and the endless opportunities we’re going to supply to him with the message that the sky’s the limit, and as long as he‘s happy he‘s succeeded…but we want him to always keep in mind the simple things, like a pair of shoe’s that are untied and how much fun they can be….So here we go with our shoe laces untied one foot in front of the other.......
