Fall Colours

My favourite season is fall…the changing of the leaves, warm days and cool nights, the sweet smells of the kitchen that lets you know fall has arrived with canning, pumpkin and apple pies….Honestly it warms the soul!

It’s been a bit since we’ve last blogged, time has eluded me and I honestly have no idea where September went! Most of September was spent getting ready for the winter….Laken’s Grandma/ Marks Mom (Jeanne) and I canned over 76 jars of peaches, pears, apple sauce and crab apple jelly…. Laken and I have been getting ready for a party we’re hosting in October and trying to get a head start on Christmas! Yes I said it Christmas!
September has been a busy month for Laken and I honestly can’t believe how much of a little boy he is, personality, attitude and disposition wise. His personality is bursting at the seams and its unbelievable to watch! He’s caring and thoughtful, stubborn, curious and determined and such a dare devil. Loves giving kisses as well as hugs and absolutely 100% does everything on his terms.. Laken started taking his first steps on his own this month, but of course only on his terms. He’ll walk from his high chair to the window, stove to the counter….but if he catches you watching, see’s you reach for the camera down he goes and he’s off crawling! If you try and get him to stand he holds his legs up and under no circumstance will put them down! It’s really it funny how determined he is to do it on his time! Which is fine by Mark and I, we know he can do it and are confident taking off and walking all the time isn’t far away.
September also celebrates Grandparents day and we celebrated it by giving his Grandpa and Grandma a hand and foot print with this poem written along side:

My dirty little handprint
I've left on every wall
And on the drawers and tabletops
I've really marked them all
But here is one that won't rub off
I'm giving it to you
Because I am so thankful
For Grandparents just like you!

I cannot express how blessed I feel to know my little boy will grow up with Grandparents. Something I think a lot of people over look….I never grew up with a Grandma and the Grand father I had died when I was young so my memories are few. I know that has a lot to do with me being so conscious of how important grand parents are. There is absolutely nothing like a grandparents love, snuggles, stories and advice. Laken doesn’t just have Grandparents but three Great Grandmas as well, something we all cherish. Laken has had a lot of Grandpa and Grandma love this month which I try really hard to ensure happens. Laken LOVES his Grandma time when Mark and I are at work and doesn’t even blink an eye as I fly out the door…which makes working that much easier! I can’t thank Jeanne enough for driving in and spending the night so we don’t have to send Laken some where! She truly is an Amazing Grandma and Laken absolutely adores her for it! So Happy Grandparents Day to all those who are Grandparents and wishing you all a great October! Till next Blog!
